Chief Science Director
Dr. Eric Albert is responsible for leading the team at the Perennia Innovation Centre. His focus is on product and process development and improvement, and start up incubation with the goal of creating business growth by value addition to Atlantic bioresources.
Eric joins Perennia from North Taste Flavourings Inc. where he was Vice-President of Operations, Research and Development and was instrumental in their startup and growth. Eric has several years of experience managing the operations of a food processing plant specializing in processing of by-product from various fisheries into value-added food ingredients sold on the international market. In addition, he has played an active role in process design and implementing lab scale pilots to commercial settings.
Eric has a PhD in Pathology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he studied the role of the innate immune system in the development of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He furthered these studies as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta’s Centre of Excellence for Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Immunity Research Group (CEGIIR).
