POULTRY

The Nova Scotia poultry industry is quite broad, including broiler chicken, turkey and table egg production, as well as a number of allied industries (for example, broiler and layer breeders, hatcheries). As in the rest of Canada, the primary poultry industries are supply managed commodities, providing stability for producers. As of the beginning of 2018, Nova Scotia is home to 87 broiler chicken producers, 20 turkey producers, and 24 table egg farms, along with numerous licensed free range producers (chicken and turkey). While much of this production is concentrated in the Annapolis Valley, poultry production can be found throughout many other regions of Nova Scotia.
