Paul Shorthouse, Interim Managing Director, Canada Plastics Pact (CPP)

Paul is one of Canada’s leading experts in the emerging circular economy, providing solutions and engaging leaders who are working at the intersection of business innovation, public policy, economic development, and sustainability. For over a decade, this work has placed him at the forefront of the important transition that is underway towards a greener, more prosperous, low-carbon economy.

In February 2021, Paul took on the role of Managing Director of Circular Economy Leadership Canada (CELC), a network of leaders from all industries and sectors who are fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in Canada. In May 2022 Paul became a member of the Leadership Team of The Natural Step Canada and on a part-time basis is supporting the Canada Plastics Pact as its Interim Managing Director.

Norm Mensour, President, Scotia Recycling

Norm Mensour is currently President of Scotia Recycling Ltd, based out of Hantsport, NS. He joined the Scotia Investments Family of Companies in January 2021. Since 1976, Scotia Recycling Ltd, a locally held company, has become Atlantic Canada’s leader in collection, processing & marketing of recyclable materials. Sustainability and environmental stewardship are key pillars in their evolution. Prior to his current role at Scotia Recycling, Norm held senior management roles with Labatt, Big Erics, & Envirosystems. Norm obtained his doctorate in Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario. Norm has sat on a number of other boards including the Lebanese Chamber of Commerce in Nova Scotia, Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia, the Waegwoltic Club Halifax & Harmony Bazaar Festival of Women and Song.

Dana McCauley – Chief Experience Officer, Canadian Food Innovation Network (CFIN)

Dana McCauley is a value proposition driven innovator who has successfully launched many food products and programs in collaboration with domestic and international food companies and entrepreneurs.

Beyond her corporate experiences in marketing, product development and creative services, Dana brings not-for-profit and academic expertise to her role. She was the founding Executive Director for Food Starter, a Toronto based food business incubator and accelerator that was recognized with an Ontario Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence. As Director of New Venture Creation at the University of Guelph, Dana enabled agri-food innovators to transform their inventions into innovations that grow the economy and enhances Canada’s international reputation.

Dana has been a food media personality and keynote speaker. She is the President of the SIAL Canada Innovation Award jury. In 2017, Dana was recognized by WXN as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in the Trailblazers and Trendsetters category.


Nancy Tregunno, Food Scientist, Perennia

Nancy Tregunno is a Food Scientist at Perennia Food and Agriculture, assisting clients with the development and scale-up of new food products. Nancy completed a B.Sc. (food science) at Acadia University and an M.Sc. (food science) at the University of Guelph. With 30 years of experience in applied research and development in the food and agri-food industry, she helps clients with product and process development from concept to commercialization.

Her areas of interest include formulation development, process scale-up, food-package interactions and sustainability. She also loves enjoying Nova Scotia’s bounty of local foods.
