General BRCGS Food Safety Issue 9 Description:

The BRCGS Global Food Safety Standard has set the benchmark for nearly 25 years. Adopted by over 22,000 sites in more than 130 countries, the standard is accepted by 70% of the top 10 global retailers, 60% of the top 10 quick-service restaurants, and 50% of the top 25 manufacturers. Now in its 9th edition, the standard has constantly evolved to protect the consumer. It was the first standard to be GFSI benchmarked, as well as introduce food safety culture requirements, define food fraud, and reduce audit burden through additional modules. Developed with input from industry, it provides a framework to manage product safety, integrity, legality and quality, and the operational controls for these criteria in the food and food ingredient manufacturing, processing and packing industry.

Pam Laffin, Quality and Food Safety Specialist, Perennia

Pam has been a Food Safety Specialist for the past ten years with Perennia Food & Agriculture Inc. Pam has guided companies through the certification process in several food and beverage commodities. Pam’s career and knowledge includes dairy, meat & poultry, seafood, honey, juice production, frozen fruit and vegetable processes, snack foods and RTE meal kits. Throughout her career, she has taken pride in building solid relationships with colleagues and clients in agriculture and seafood.

Jessica Burke, Delivery Partner Manager

Jessica began her career in an environmental and food testing laboratory. Following that, she held various roles in quality assurance and food safety in the food manufacturing industry, where she helped multiple companies strengthen their food safety systems and achieve GFSI certification. Jessica has held multiple roles within BRCGS, including Technical Specialist for the Gluten-Free Certification Program and Plant-Based Global Standard, and Senior Technical Manager for the Americas region.  In her current position as Delivery Partners Relationship Manager, her role is to support BRCGS Delivery Partners in delivering world class service, through collaboration, facilitation and technical education.
