The goals of the program are to encourage on-farm sequestration of carbon and reduction in greenhouse gases through the implementation of improved nitrogen management, enhanced cover crop adoption, and the normalization of rotational grazing. Join Perennia and Cultiv8 as Rosalie Gillis-Madden and Jason Grant take you on a tour of Cultiv8’s student-run vegetable production farm at the Dalhousie Ag Campus. September 26th, 2022 from 10am – 12pm. We will discuss cover crop species selection, interrow seeding, hear about what Cultiv8 is doing with students and horticulture, and more! Bring your questions, soil tests, and any samples you want to discuss. This event is targeted at farmers, students, and agronomists, everyone is welcome! Young agronomists can learn more about the Institutes of Agrology and about becoming a Certified Crop Advisor. CCA points will be available.

On-Farm Climate Action Fund Technical Project Manager
Rosalie is the On-Farm Climate Action Fund Technical Project Manager with Perennia and is working with farmers and agronomists to implement the best management practices outlined by the On-Farm Climate Action Fund: improving nitrogen management, increasing the adoption of cover crops, and normalizing rotational grazing. She is passionate about sequestering carbon and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and brings over a dozen years of applied agriculture experience to the table to assist farmers in adopting new, more sustainable practices. Rosalie’s strengths are in applied research, soil science, written and oral communication, and extension education. She works to support farmers and strives to enable informed decisions about best management practices that are suitable to each farm and business model.

Jason has a BSc.(Ag) majoring in Plant Sciences followed by an MSc. spent experimenting in green roofing. He is also an entrepreneur who created a gourmet food business, PepperHead, which combined his passions for locally-sourced, sustainable agriculture and food creation. Jason has much experience with ideation, creation and implementation in the value-added agri-food industry.
