Jonathan’s role as Research Associate will support Perennia’s team through a variety of projects and field work. Jonathan will be filling in Caitlin Congdon’s position while she temporarily takes on a new role as Vegetable Specialist. Jonathan graduated from Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in plant sciences.
Agriculture has played a prominent role throughout Jonathan’s life. He grew up on a dairy farm in the Annapolis Valley and was an active 4-H member for at least ten years. With many diverse work experiences, Jonathan brings a fresh perspective to agriculture research. In 2018, Jonathan had the opportunity to experience agriculture in another country by working on a mixed commodity farm in Western Australia, Australia. He also brings experience in the ornamental side of horticulture in both a landscape and commercial setting. Jonathan is also no stranger to Perennia, having worked in the past as a summer student as well as an associate in our Plant Health Lab, focusing on grapevine virus testing. Jonathan looks forward to working with the Perennia team to ensure the success of the agriculture industry in Nova Scotia.
