Project Description

SHANE WOOD, M.Sc.

Agriculture Research Technician

Shane is a Research Associate and supports Perennia’s specialists in the Truro Office. He will be working closely with the production specialists team to help manage on-farm research projects, identify and develop research proposals and assist with outreach activities.

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Environmental Studies with a major in Agro-Environmental Sciences in 2014, Shane went on to obtain his Master’s of Science in Plant Science in 2017.

For the past two years, Shane has worked in Manitoba as a Research Agronomist where he completed crop variety and product efficacy (pesticides, fertilizers, plant growth regulators, etc.) trials on a wide variety of field crops. Before his work in Manitoba, he spent a season working in the Okanagan Valley as a Research Agronomist, where he worked with field and horticulture crops on product efficacy trials. Through his Master’s thesis, he has experience and knowledge predicting pre-harvest forage quality in alfalfa-grass mixtures using simple field measurements. He also has experience working in vegetable and fruit crop production for consumer consumption from his time at the McGill Horticulture Research Centre while completing his B. Sc.

Shane looks forward to working at Perennia and helping producers find ways to increase the profitability and sustainability of their farms.
