MAPLE
The maple industry in Nova Scotia has just under 200 farms with some level of maple production with slightly more than 450,000 taps. The industry plays an important part of the Nova Scotia rural economy with it contributing around 3.2 million dollars in 2016. The industry exports maple syrup and value added products around the world and has a thriving direct to consumer, value added and agri-tourism sector. Improvements in production practices are helping to modernize the industry and make operations more efficient and financially viable.
