The mink industry has been part of Nova Scotia’s agricultural landscape since the 1930’s, with consideration expansion being seen since the early 2000’s.  Approximately half of Canada’s mink pelts come from Nova Scotia, being one of the top agricultural exports of our province. About 80% of our provincial mink production occurs in Digby and Yarmouth counties, with the rest being spread throughout the province. Mink pelts are sold through auction houses to garment makers and manufacturers worldwide, with the largest markets being China, Korea and Russia.
