SARAH WOOD, BSc., P.Ag.
As a Small Farm Outreach Specialist, Sarah is the first point of contact for the small-scale organic and conventional operations needing production assistance. She is the key connector to the entire Perennia specialist team as well as outside experts, as needed. Sarah is also Perennia’s key contact co-ordinating information and service needs in Cape Breton as she is part of the Department of Agriculture’s regional team.
The primary focus of this role will be to provide general and commodity specific information to advance small farm producers. Sarah brings a broad base of general experience and understanding of a wide cross section of production areas to this role. She will be a key connector between producers groups and our production specialists, outside experts and other partners and will develop workshop offerings, training videos, publications, etc. to address the sectors’ needs. Sarah’s success in meeting clients’ needs stems from her exceptional communication skills and internet-based research expertise.
Her projects have included providing project coordination and delivery of the NS Biosecurity Implementation Program – Part of Canada-Nova Scotia Bilateral Agreement under Growing Forward, a social media and awareness campaign for a NS commodity industry and multiyear project involvement with the Cape John Community Pasture and coordination of an annual field day.
