Eirik Mikkelsen


Eirik Mikkelsen is a senior scientist at Nofima, a Norwegian independent research institute on food, fisheries and aquaculture with around 400 employees. At Nofima, Eirik especially studies the economic and social aspects of aquaculture. This includes public management of the industry and of coastal and marine areas, and how the industry can give both positive and negative effects for local communities and stakeholders. Eirik holds a PhD in economics/social science, and has been in research for over 20 years, including 10 years as a research director. He is a member of ICES expert groups on economic and social dimensions of aquaculture and on marine spatial planning.Â
