I have been involved in the Agricultural industry all of my life, being raised on a large family farm, graduating from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, working for the Nova Scotia Agricultural College for a number of years in Truro, working for the department of agriculture within the swine industry, then returning home full-time to Caledonia, Queens County to work along side of my brother to manage our hog farm. In the early 2000's I became the president and manager of our wild blueberry farm and businesses.
My family and I have been involved in all aspects of the wild blueberry industry for over 60 years. I severed as the vice president as well as the president of Nova Scotia Wild Blueberry Producers Association and sat on several different agricultural related boards.
As well as focusing on wild blueberry production we have roughly 300 honeybee hives that we use for our farms pollination needs and continue to expand this number as we have increased the amount of wild blueberry acreage we farm and manage over the last few years to 1000 acres.
Value-add has been an important aspect to our family businesses starting out with a fresh pack line for our wild blueberries, my parents developed the first 100% pure wild blueberry juice of its kind with the help of Kentville Research station, and now drying 100% pure wild blueberry products. Our products are sold and shipped worldwide.
