Session Description

We’re bringing together grape growers, wineries and industry partners on this special industry field day. During this event, you will explore the role of terroir and collaborate in shaping the future of the Nova Scotia wine sector. Join us in discussing how Nova Scotia can continue to leverage its unique terroir and cool climate reputation while fostering innovation, economic sustainability and continued industry collaboration. Steve Ells, owner of Ellslea Vineyard, will speak on his successes, challenges and new undertakings as we tour his vineyard, and featured guest speaker Stephane Badet, an Agriculture Economist from Bordeaux, France, will share international perspectives on regional wine economies and strategies for building value through place-based identity.

 Stephane Badet 

Stephane Badet is an Agriculture Economist and lecturer based in Bordeaux, France, specializing in wine economics, sustainability, regional development and collaborative growth models within the wine industry. He has worked extensively with international wine and agricultural organizations on projects focused on diversification, tourism and the long-term sustainability of wine regions.

Steve Ells 

Steve Ells is the owner and operator of Ellslea Vineyard in Sheffield Mills, Nova Scotia, with extensive experience in cool climate grape growing and vineyard management in the Annapolis Valley.
