This event is being held as part of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) program. The goals of the program are to encourage on-farm sequestration of carbon and reduction in greenhouse gases through the implementation of improved nitrogen management, enhanced cover crop adoption, and the normalization of rotational grazing. Session Description
Frost seeding is a practical, low costs way to increase legume content and improve pasture and forage stands by taking advantage of natural Maritime freeze/thaw cycles in late winter and early spring. Join us for an informative session on this practice with AAFC’s Kathleen Glover and Perennia’s Forage Specialist Shane Wood. We will discuss management, benefits, suitable species and timing, local examples and how this practice fits into overall forage and grazing management plans.
This session is ideal for livestock producers, graziers and anyone interested in improving forage performance in a cost-effective and practical way.
This event is offered in partnership with the Farmers for Climate Solutions’ Farm Resilience Mentorship Program (FaRM). For more information, please visit www.farmlearninghub.ca. By registering for this event, you are agreeing to the FaRM Terms of Use and Privacy Statement.

Guest Speaker
Shane Wood, Forage Specialist with Perennia Food and Agriculture
Kathleen Glover, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
Dr. Glover researches innovative strategies to enhance the growth and quality of forage crops, a key component in cattle feed. Her current research project focuses on the application of no-till seeding methods, a game-changing approach that enhances forage growth and offers substantial benefits for farmers and the environment. “I love my job because it gives me the opportunity to make a real difference in agriculture. By exploring new ways to improve forage quality and extend forage stand longevity, my work is positively impacting greenhouse gas emissions, reducing costs for farmers and improving animal health as well as the quality of the food we eat.”
