Session Description

In this session, Dustin MacLean will be going through a number of practices that you can use on farm to aid you in controlling disease outbreaks. These practices will be paired with examples of actual crop-disease interactions to help you make informed decisions regarding crop rotation, sanitation and other cultural control options.


Guest Speaker

Dustin MacLean, Horticulturalist and Field Plant Pathologist with Perennia  

Dustin completed his BSc at Dalhousie University Truro Campus in 2013, where he received the University Medal in Plant Science. He completed his MSc in 2016 from the University of Saskatchewan in Plant Pathology, where his project focused on fungicide application and timing on spring wheat to control Fusarium head blight and leaf spots and baseline sensitivity studies on tan spot of wheat. He worked in Kelowna, British Columbia, as the Provincial Plant Pathologist, mostly dealing with disease issues in cherries, grapes, and apples, before returning to Nova Scotia and taking a position with Perennia in 2022.
