Session Description
Extreme conditions such as drought and saturated soils can significantly impact the movement and uptake of nutrients in crops. Understanding these concepts can help you to make the best and most economical choices when it comes to when and where to fertilize.Â
Guest Speaker
Dr. Mason MacDonald is an Assistant Professor in Plant Ecophysiology at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture. He has a B.Sc. (Nova Scotia Agricultural College) and an M.Sc. (Dalhousie) in Agriculture and a Ph.D. (Laval) in Plant Biology. He teaches courses in Plant Ecophysiology and Environmental Sampling and is also an accredited professional agrologist and environmental professional. Dr. MacDonald’s work focuses on environmental stress physiology, stress mitigation, and multiomics, with over 40 publications related to research on balsam fir, maple, brassicas, carrots, and species used for microgreens. Dr. MacDonald enjoys talking and collaborating with industry to learn about their challenges and help develop solutions.
