Session Description

We had so much fun the first time; we had to return for part 2! Join the conversation with Judson Reid from Cornell University along with Perennia specialist Talia Plaskett on April 13, 2023, at noon to plan for split applications of nitrogen in soil-based protected crops. Register now so you won’t miss this great learning opportunity before the season starts!

Guest Speaker

Judson Reid
Extension Vegetable Specialist at Cornell University

Understanding different cultures and their impact on agricultural practices has long been an interest of Judson Reid, leading to his International Agriculture major at Cornell University during his undergrad studies. Judson worked for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Yates County for several years before completing his master’s degree in plant protection in the field of Plant Pathology and joining the Cornell Vegetable Program team of specialists in 2005. Today, Judson focuses on cultural practices, small farm operations and season extension techniques.

Talia Plaskett
Protected Crop Specialist with Perennia

Talia’s role at Perennia supports protected crop production across the province. She graduated from the University of Guelph in 2015 and spent the following five years working at Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. She gained experience in plant pathology, breeding and production, all while working in a newly constructed hydroponic tomato greenhouse. She joined the Agri-Services team in June 2020 and has spent the last few years understanding the scope of protected production in Nova Scotia. Talia is excited to continue to strengthen the resource bank, knowledgebase and community surrounding protected production across the province.
