This event is being held as part of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) program. The goals of the program are to encourage on-farm sequestration of carbon and reduction in greenhouse gases through the implementation of improved nitrogen management, enhanced cover crop adoption, and the normalization of rotational grazing. Strategies for Cover Cropping for Late Summer and Fall in Atlantic Vegetable Systems

Event Details

July 23, 2026
6:00PM – 7:30PM

Session Description

Discover practical cover crop solutions that will help you build healthier soils and stronger crops this fall in this virtual session. Spring and summer are a great time to plan for the fall planting window when it comes to cover crops and protecting your soil. This session will help growers make informed cover crop decisions that improve soil health, enhance nutrient cycling, suppress weeds, reduce erosion and strengthen farm resilience.

Featuring Lawrence Levesque, Forage and Cover Crop Specialist with Speare Seeds and Dr. Manphool Fageria, Vegetable Specialist with Perennia, this webinar combines practical field experience with agronomic expertise. You’ll learn how to strategically select and manage grasses, legumes, brassicas and broadleaf species to achieve specific soil and crop production goals. Discussions will focus on improving soil structure and water management, maximizing nutrient efficiency and implementing effective cover crop strategies that support productive, profitable fields. We will also explore how healthy soils can help farms adapt to increasingly variable weather conditions while protecting long-term land productivity.
