Session Description

Join Perennia and Alexandra Harland for an introduction to virtual fencing. In this Virtual Fencing 101 webinar, you will learn about the who, what, why and how of virtual fencing. We will discuss the different virtual fencing technologies, current and future applications and take a more in-depth look at a western Canadian research study using virtual fencing to manage rotational grazing and the opportunities to apply it to your farm.

Guest Speaker

Alexandra Harland

Alex grew up in Manitoba in a small farming town called Lac du Bonnet. She studied agriculture and beef production while pursuing her BSc at the University of Manitoba. In 2021, she moved to Edmonton to pursue her MSc at the University of Alberta. During her MSc, she studied rangeland science and most notably worked with virtual fencing technology to rotationally graze heifers and cow-calf pairs for two years. Now she is a Riparian Specialist with Cows and Fish, a non-profit organization in Alberta dedicated to empowering people who live, work and play in Alberta’s riparian areas to take action to care for these areas.

Registration is now closed.
