The goals of the program are to encourage on-farm sequestration of carbon and reduction in greenhouse gases through the implementation of improved nitrogen management, enhanced cover crop adoption, and the normalization of rotational grazing. Session Description

Please join us on November 13 for a virtual session, Rotational Grazing Pasture Management for a Changing Climate! For this event, we are pleased to welcome, Dalhousie Agriculture Campus Professor, Dr. Nancy McLean. Throughout Nancy's career she has explored forage legume breeding, pasture renovation and management as well as low-cost soil and crop improvement methods. This session will speak on pasture improvement and resiliency through biodiversity from a practical perspective for producers.  

Nancy will be sharing information on the management of diverse swards in rotational grazing systems including methods to re-introduce legumes into pastures and pasture management practices to maintain legumes in stands. In this webinar, she will be speaking on the importance of biodiversity and legume content for economic, soil and environmental health.  

The aim of this webinar is to help with pasture management in a changing climate. This will be a 40-to-45-minute presentation with 15 minutes for questions.  


Speakers

Nancy McLean (PhD, P Ag), Associate Professor
Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant, Food, & Environmental Sciences, Bible Hill, NS 

Nancy trained in agronomy and plant genetics at Macdonald Campus of McGill University where she received a BSc (Agr) and MSc (Agr) and at Dalhousie University for a PhD (Biology). She has worked at Nova Scotia Agricultural College/Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture since 1986. Courses include Genetics I, Forages and Cover Crops and Plant Breeding. Research interests include forage crop management, cover crops and plant-pollinator interactions.
